Meet Our Teaching Artists
DocSong teaching artists are skilled facilitators working at the intersection of music, storytelling, and community. Through our training programs, they learn to guide collaborative songwriting sessions where participants share their stories and shape them into songs that connect, heal, and inspire.
Our teaching artists work independently in their own communities—in senior centers and schools, with veterans and immigrants, in rural towns and urban neighborhoods. They bring cultural knowledge, local relationships, and musical skill to this work. We provide the methodology, mentorship, and support.
DocSong Fellows are teaching artists who receive additional support: stipends, intensive mentorship, and nine months of guided implementation to lead documentary songwriting projects in their communities.

Become A Teaching Artist
Documentary songwriting transforms stories into songs—and teaching artists make it possible.
If you're a musician who believes in the power of music to build empathy and strengthen community, we invite you to explore our training programs. Whether you're looking for an introduction to the method or ready to commit to a year-long fellowship, there's a pathway for you.
