The sight and sound of the harp captivated Emily Waggoner even as a seven-year-old beginning student of Dorinne Yoder of Hidden Valley Harps in Escondido, CA. Creating stories through music shapes her everyday life as an educator and musician. Emily is currently Associate Chair of the Division of Music at Bob Jones University, where she teaches courses in music and orchestral literature, collaborative arts, music entrepreneurship, and harp. She performs professionally as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral harpist, and studio musician. Currently midway through a doctorate in music education, she earned degrees in music and harp performance from Bob Jones University and Converse University. She studied Salzedo, French, and Romanian techniques from Dorinne Yoder, Joyce Fankhauser, Anita Burroughs-Price, Carrol McLaughlin, and Gabriella Werries. She founded the local chapter of the American Harp Society and currently serves as president. In 2025, Emily completed training as a Documentary Songwriting teaching artist.
