Hazel Delehey
Hazel Delehey is a documentary songwriter, studio vocalist, and Program Director at DocSong. She creates songs in collaboration with community storytellers and leads programs that support teaching artists and participants.
Hazel pioneered one of the first documentary songs created for a documentary film through her work with the High Mountain Institute in Colorado. She was also the first artist to lend her voice in representation of women in the #Songs of MeToo project.
She has designed and led songwriting and storytelling programs in both community and carceral settings through Unlocking Harmony and Documentary Songwriters. Her work focuses on helping people shape and share their stories through music.
Hazel holds a B.A. in English with a minor in Educational Studies from Bates College. While there, she completed a year-long creative thesis and worked as a Peer Writing & Speaking Assistant.
Based in Portland, Maine, she continues her work as a vocalist, teacher, and songwriter, often collaborating with people who draw on nature and place in their storytelling.
