A good friend of mine knows I have ringing, ringing in my ears

There’s a loud ringing in his ears!

The same friend of mine happens to be deaf in his right ear
But I love how he laughs at troubles when they appear
I go to talk to him, I’ve had a hard, hard year
He says I’m listening, I'm all ear!

My laughter starts in my heart and rises to my face, feels like
Little stars from my heart, Stars of laughter

I told another friend with a bandage on his chest
Some hard things in my life
He said that bandage over his heart was in the right place
He could understand all of my pain

And we laughed out loud together, laughed in commiseration,
Ooooh, yeah! Stars of laughter!
