Journeys of Home with Renovare Music
This year, musicians from Renovare Music, trained in the DocSong Documentary Songwriting Method, have been collaborating with refugees and immigrants in Cleveland to transform their stories into original songs.
In partnership with the Hope Center for Refugees and Immigrants, this project brings together community members and artists to explore what it means to build a home in a new place. Through the songwriting process, participants have shared stories of transition, memory, identity, and belonging—offering a window into experiences that are often unseen or unheard.
Each story is deeply personal, yet together they reveal something universal: every person carries a story that shapes who they are. This project is an invitation to listen more closely, to recognize both the individuality of each journey and the shared humanity within them.
The refugee and immigrant experience is marked by extraordinary resilience. From navigating displacement and uncertainty to preserving culture and forging new paths forward, the individuals behind these songs embody strength in ways that challenge and inspire.
At a time when division can feel pervasive, these songs offer something different: a chance to connect. Through music, stories become bridges, fostering empathy, understanding, and a deeper sense of community.
We’re honored to share Renovare’s work with you.
