Support A Fellow
Why Support a DocSong Fellow
DocSong Fellows are teaching artists who lead documentary songwriting projects in their own communities—places where they already have trusted relationships, cultural knowledge, and deep local connection. When you support a fellow, you’re investing in work that is rooted locally and designed to create lasting impact.
Each fellowship provides nine months of intensive training, mentorship, and project support. Fellows collaborate with local participants to create a collection of documentary songs, culminating in public performances that share these stories with wider audiences.
Your gift—whether you fund a full fellowship or contribute what you can—helps provide:
- $10,000 fellow stipends covering project costs, teaching artist time, and professional recording
- Dedicated one-on-one mentorship throughout the nine-month program
- Training, resources, and guidance from experienced documentary songwriters and teaching artists
- Community-based projects that create new songs, build connection, and strengthen local arts ecosystems
Fellowships create deep, sustained impact. When you invest in a fellow, you’re supporting work that continues long after the program ends—training the next generation of teaching artists, preserving stories in song, and demonstrating that meaningful change happens when it grows from within.
