Chore
“Chore” tells the story of Tanisha’s relationship with her father, defined by empty conversations, missing cards, and fading hope. She describes a relationship defined more by absence than presence. The song follows her decision to stop extending herself toward someone who cannot extend back. “Chore” explores the tension between love and self-preservation, challenging assumptions about family obligation. Sometimes learning to say goodbye is an act of self-respect.

Song Lyrics
Not one of the cards on the shelf over there is from you
I barely have any pictures of us anymore
But then all the conversation we have is empty
How could you make me feel so small?
I don’t even wish you were better
Don’t want that life anymore
I held your weight on my shoulders
And you made me feel like a chore
Last time we talked I was driving I gripped the wheel tight
So much to say but it never comes out how I like
You’re disappointed and I’m tryna be sorry
How much longer can we hold onto this fight
I don’t even wish you were better
Don’t want that life anymore
I held your weight on my shoulders
And you made me feel like a chore
I don’t even wish you were better
Don’t want that life anymore
I held your weight on my shoulders
And you made me feel like a chore
You can try to make things better
You could even apologize
You can hold the guilt on your shoulders
But you taught me how to say goodbye
