I Feel So Connected

“I Feel So Connected” tells the story of Lexx Davis, a member of My Sista’s Keeper, a Black women’s beekeeping collective in Cleveland, OH, who discovers unexpected joy when she starts keeping a hive in her backyard. What begins as curiosity becomes a meaningful family ritual that brings the whole family closer together. Through beekeeping, Lexx also forms deep connections with other women in My Sista’s Keeper, creating what she describes as “divine alignment” and ultimately “a family.”

The song explores how caring for bees teaches lessons about collective wellbeing and intergenerational legacy, showing how we can extend ourselves across boundaries of species, time, and community. “I Feel So Connected” reminds us that when we open ourselves to unexpected relationships with the natural world, we often receive gifts far beyond what we anticipated.
